About
A firm believer in treating the whole person, Dr. Avijit Mitra combines medication management, therapy integration, and patient education to guide individuals through recovery and resilience. His clinical philosophy reflects his belief that mental health exists at the intersection of biology, psychology, and social well-being. Dr. Mitra’s commitment to compassionate care extends beyond his practice. During the Sandy Hook tragedy, he served on the Connecticut crisis response team and was recognized by the Connecticut State Psychiatric Society with an Appreciation Award for his service. Originally from India, Dr. Mitra came to the United States for college, financing his Ivy League education through scholarships and perseverance—a journey that reflects his dedication to excellence and hard work. Outside of medicine, he finds balance through tennis, hiking, and a passion for lifelong learning. His humility, empathy, and precision have earned him recognition among peers and patients alike as a psychiatrist who listens deeply and treats with integrity.
